SUPERNATURAL TURNAROUND- Psalm 126: 1-3.
A supernatural Turnaround is a divine encounter which is usually experienced by believers. It occurs where God reverses deplorable, unpleasant and undesirable circumstances, turns around negative to positive, makes the impossible possible. It is significantly an enviable thing that is conspicuously seeing in the life of a believer, someone who has sincerely, honestly committed his ways and life to God, our maker. It is only those who are in the realm of supernatural that will have their worst situations reversed.
The bible presents us with a vast array of supernatural turnaround that occurred in the lives of some people. These people, through their lives, we could see that they demonstrated unusual, unwavering commitment to God. Their attitude to God was awesome, their philosophy of life was great and life changing, their walking with God was perfect and super, their faith in God was firm and resolutely displayed. Among these people are:
1. Paul’s philosophy of life is “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain”- Philippians 1: 21.
His life was full of supernatural turnaround. Through the grace and will of God his life was
supernaturally turned around from a murderer to a life safer and faith builder, a great
conversion engendered by the Lord Jesus Christ without an input from Paul, a prisoner who
supernaturally regained freedom through act of praising and praying to God- Acts 16: 25-30.
2. Joshua’s philosophy of life is “faithfulness, faithful to the guidance and Word of God, and also his guidance is God). In Joshua 24: 15, he says “As for me and my house, we will serve the
Lord”-, He also meditated upon the book of the law as instructed by God, he took it as his
spiritual meal and also observed all that is written therein. Joshua experienced supernatural
miracles in his journey with Israelites to the Promised Land.
3. David’s philosophy of life is “Trusting in God for protection”. “Think bigger than the challenge,
be bigger than the obstacle, and act as if it’s impossible for you not to fail”. As a result of this
philosophy, he overcame the toughest and arch enemy of Israel; Goliath- 1Samuel 17.
Through praise and worship songs, he was regularly invoking the presence of God through which
many supernatural turnarounds he experienced were made possible.
4. Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego held on to philosophical principle of “Commitment to
faith in God” that they shall not worship other gods aside from the living God (Daniel 3 and 6).
For this singular reason they witness supernatural turnaround in their lives. Because of their faith,
God delivered them from the evil and in doing so, brought the mighty king of Babylon to
recognize his Lordship over heaven and earth.
5. Esther’s philosophical view is “Victory belongs to God” and that fasting and prayer unto God,
great weapon of warfare (Esther 4: 1-17). Esther and the entire Jews experienced supernatural
deliverance from a wicked man, Haman who plotted their extinction.
6. Job’s philosophy in life is “Good and evil are from God”- Job 2:10, and that “God is the only
supreme being who created all things and does things as He pleases”- Job 1-7. In the face of evil
advice and counseling from his wife and friends, Job never shrunk from his faith in God. His firm
and unswerving faith in God helps him to experience supernatural turnaround- Job 42: 10- end.
7. All the major Prophets like Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel and others shared a common
philosophical view of “God’s power and plan for his people surpasses the physical limitations of
our life on Earth”. These people believed so much in God and never turned away from the ways
and will of God. Their faith in God and diligent, faithful service to God caused them to
experience supernatural in their ministry.
8. The Barren women in the Bible experienced supernatural turnaround in their circumstances simply because of their faith in God. Women like Sarah, Hanna, and Elizabeth etc.
In actual fact, supernatural turnaround can be possible if and only if you accept God as your Father, as the one you should look up to in every situation you find yourself. You must have a relationship of Son and Father with God. You must see Him as your Father and He too will see you as His son. Just as a human father provides, protects, guides, guards, directs, preserves, teaches his son, much more than that God will do.
The prerequisites to experiencing supernatural turnaround are as follows:
1. Faith in God- Faith is the major key to a turnaround. Faith is the key to supernatural miracles. Hebrew 11: 6 “But without faith it is impossible to please Him; He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him”. The people of God mentioned above were able to experience supernatural turnaround because they had faith in God. If you too will develop and grow faith in God, supernatural turnaround of your circumstances is very near. A Woman with issue of blood (Mark 5: 25-34), A Man whose son has epilepsy (Mark 9: 17-29), The Centurion’s servant was healed (Luke 7: 2-10).
2. Newness of life through Holy Spirit: John 3: 1-8. Being born again is critical to experiencing supernatural turnaround in one’s life. It is the first step toward coming to Jesus Christ. It is the process of forsaking sin, abstaining from sin and living a new life caused by the
Holy Spirit. Read Romans 6: 1-7, Romans 8, 2 Corinthians 5: 17.
3. Ceaseless Prayer: This is a tool to make impossible possible. A turn to God in prayer is what turns destiny around. Read Luke 18: 1-8. Jabez prayed and he experienced supernatural turnaround- 1 Chronicle 4: 9-10, Hanna- I Samuel 1: 18, Paul and Silas- Acts 16: 25-26.
4. Heartily Praise: Praising God is the platform for supernatural turnaround. Praising God makes God do the impossible in any situation. Jehoshaphat applied this weapon to defeat the 3 nations that rose against them in battle- 2 Chronicles 20: 1: 26. When you praise God you celebrate His majesty, sovereignty, awesomeness, love and faithfulness. Praise is what David often used to invite the presence of God all the times. This is basically the reason why God called David “a
man after His heart”. You can key into praising God in whatever situation you find yourself to experience supernatural turnaround.
5. The word of God: Psalm 138: 2 says that God exalts His word more than His name. The word of God is very important in the life of every believer as breathe is to human body. Without which you cannot withstand nor overcome the antics of the devil and his cohorts. Jesus Christ was able to defeat and overcome Satan when he appeared to Him in the wilderness with high intention to tempt Him, to turn Him against the will of God but Jesus Christ
applied the word of God as missiles and Satan was defeated- Matthew 4: 1-8.
God specifically instructed Joshua not to allow the book of the law departs from his mouth, because it is by meditating and observing all that is in it, he will overcome his enemies and any
obstacles that slip into his life and journey to the Promised Land- Joshua 1: 8-9.
6. Obedience: Obedience is the ultimate hallmark of a believer. Your belief in God is manifest in your obedience to the injunctions and instructions of God, our Father. Our Lord’s prayer teaches us that “Thy will be done on earth as in Heaven- Luke 11: 2. You must obey God.
Obedience to God’s word encourages God to intervene and get involved in our situations to the
extent that we experience supernatural turnaround. Joshua obeyed God in his journey to
Promised Land and he overcame all the obstacles in his way. Read Joshua 1- 24. Peter obeyed Jesus Christ in Luke 5: 1-8 and he overcame professional failure. At a wedding in Cana, Galilee- The celebrant obeyed Jesus, a better wine was provided in abundance and joy filled the atmosphere- John 2: 5.
CONCLUSION: It is evidently clear that the only way to have supernatural turnaround is through absolute commitment and dedication to God, our Creator. Don’t ever think that you can get out of your stubborn and terrible situation without the touch of God’s hand. I encourage you to submit your total self to God, let your life be anchored on the word of God. God who designed you, knows how you can miraculously enjoy to the fullness all the gifts and blessings He has deposited in your life.
